Mills proclaims 2026 as the \u2018Year of the Woman Farmer in Maine\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2026 has a new meaning in the pine tree state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gov. Janet Mills has proclaimed 2026 as the year of the woman farmer in Maine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aligning with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations\u2019 international year of the woman farmer, Mills looks to acknowledge the role women play in Maine\u2019s agriculture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout the year, Maine will highlight women farmers and agriculture leaders through public events, collaboration with legislature and national convenings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Downeast food system partnership<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The city of Ellsworth and the Union River center of innovation are ready for the half-day community forum focused on Ellsworth\u2019s role in a sustainable food system for the Downeast region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The free public event invites residents, food producers, business owners and other stakeholders to analyze how food moves from the field to the dinner table.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s at the Moore Center in Ellsworth on Jan. 22 and starts at 9 a.m. and registration is required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unionriverinnovation.com\/ellsworth-food-system-project\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 24 starting at 10 a.m families and community members can head out to the Winter Market at Woodlawn Ellsworth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taking place inside the woodlawn barn, the market will feature local vendors offering locally sourced meats, artisan breads, baked goods and so much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participants will also indulge in pottery, woodwork created by regional makers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Beyond shopping participants can go sledding or ice skating however equipment will not be provided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The cherry on top is the hot coffee and cocoa awaiting as people enjoy the winter event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: Dysart\u2019s!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The travel stop is located right next to the Dairy Queen off of high street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SPCA of Hancock County to host \u2018Tarot Card Readings and Massages\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re looking to unwind and possibly get some insight on what 2026 holds for you, look no further than the SPCA of Hancock County.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Saturday Jan. 24 the SPCA will host their second \u2018Tarot for Tails\u2019 event from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. at the non-profits animal shelter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can get a tarot card reading and chair massage while giving $25 to the organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The proceeds will help support the programs to help out a furry friend or two and who knows, a new furry family member may be in the cards for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span Valentine\u2019s day cards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Starting at 10 a.m. on Jan. 24 an ecologist and seaweed expert will lead the fun family event for participants to practice techniques of pressing real seaweed to create a beautiful card.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s also in celebration of the memory of Scott Swann who started the loved
