Snow removal reminder for Ellsworth residents<\/b><\/p>\n
With all of the snow accumulated in the last week on top of preparations for another system moving through, Ellsworth city officials want to remind residents of a few things.<\/span><\/p>\n It is illegal to plow, blow or however you remove snow and place it into any public road, right-of-way or ditch.<\/span><\/p>\n City leaders say this can pose a safety hazard for drivers, pedestrians or public works crews.<\/span><\/p>\n Violations could result in traffic fines ranging from $150 to $500.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthmaine.gov\/where-to-put-all-this-snow-the-note-youve-not-been-waiting-for-%e2%9d%84%ef%b8%8f\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Body of missing man recovered at Acadia National Park<\/b><\/p>\n Multiple agencies responded to the recovery of the body of a 25-year-old man from the ocean near Bar Island at Acadia National Park on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n Officials say at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities responded to a report of an individual stranded on Bar Island however responders were unable to locate the person on arrival.<\/span><\/p>\n Search operations began and Thursday morning the man was located deceased.<\/span><\/p>\n The National Park Service is leading the investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/acad\/learn\/news\/20260129.htm<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Eddington school evacuates over unidentified odor<\/b><\/p>\n Officials evacuated Eddington School Thursday due to an unidentified odor detected on the premises.<\/span><\/p>\n The fire department was on-site working to identify the source however all students and staff have been safely relocated to Holbrook school where parents picked them up.<\/span><\/p>\n While there\u2019s no clear picture as to what the odor was, school officials tell WABI news they\u2019re working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2026\/01\/29\/eddington-school-evacuated-due-unidentified-odor\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Bangor plane crash victims with medical examiner<\/b><\/p>\n After days of awaiting National Transportation Safety crews and members of the Federal Aviation Administration to arrive and investigate the fatal plane crash in Bangor, operations at the airport are back open.<\/span><\/p>\n Airport officials started off Thursday with a few updates on the investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n WABI news reports the office of chief medical examiner says all six victims from the plane crash in Bangor are now in their care as they work to identify them.<\/span><\/p>\n Airport officials also said the aircraft has been relocated to a secure location in order for the NTSB to conduct the investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n The preliminary report is expected within 30 days however the final findings could take 12-24 months.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2026\/01\/29\/all-bangor-plane-crash-victims-now-with-medical-examiner-augusta\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Maine DOT to install light at \u201chigh crash\u201d location<\/b><\/p>\n The four-way intersection of Route 1, Schoolhouse Road and Upper Falls road in Orland has been known as a high crash location.<\/span><\/p>\n That\u2019s why the Maine Department of Transportation plans to replace the flashing lights currently installed with a stoplight.<\/span><\/p>\n The Ellsworth American reports there have been 57 crashes there since 2014 and majority of the crashes are attributed to intersection movement.<\/span><\/p>\n The publications reports the DOT plans to solicit bids in spring of 2027 in hopes that work can start shortly after.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/dot-to-install-signalized-light-at-orland-high-crash-intersection\/article_8669f7cc-d155-4d6f-a539-88bd2a39ee23.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Join BHPL for their \u2018Groundhog Day Ball\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n It\u2019s party time at the Blue Hill Public Library as they gear up for their Groundhog Day Ball on Saturday, Jan. 31.<\/span><\/p>\n From 6-9:30 p.m. you can dance in the stacks at the library to the sounds of local legends, The Soul Benders.<\/span><\/p>\n The event, sponsored by Stanley Subaru, will have plenty of food and drinks and they’re encouraging you to wear your best groundhog costume, or just put your best winter or spring finery on.<\/span><\/p>\n
