Ellsworth PD responds to hand grenade incident<\/b><\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Ellsworth Police, fire and Maine State authorities responded to a report of a hand grenade in the Goodwill store.<\/span><\/p>\n Police say a little after 8:30am they received a call from staff at the Goodwill in Ellsworth reporting a hand grenade was located in donated items.<\/span><\/p>\n Police and fire officials established a safe perimeter while Maine State police and the fire marshal\u2019s office were notified.<\/span><\/p>\n The Maine State police explosive ordnance disposal team determined the device was in fact a hand grenade however the explosive core was removed.<\/span><\/p>\n There were no other alarming devices in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n Houlton town manager pleads no contest to charge<\/b><\/p>\n Cameron Clark, the former Houlton town manager was found guilty in court Tuesday after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge.<\/span><\/p>\n The 28-year-old entered the no-contest plea to a new charge of attempted obstruction of criminal prosecution as a part of an agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n WAGM news reports the three original charges of tampering with a victim, domestic violence assault and obstructing criminal prosecution will be dismissed.<\/span><\/p>\n The victim in the case outlined lasting physical and emotional effects from the incident that took place last year.<\/span><\/p>\n Clark is ordered to pay $660.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2026\/04\/21\/former-houlton-town-manager-pleads-no-contest-reduced-charge\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Penobscot Island Air says postal services owes nearly $400K<\/b><\/p>\n A regional air service announced deliveries from the United States Postal Service will come to a halt.<\/span><\/p>\n This after Penobscot Island Air says they are owed $388,000 from the United States Postal Service for mail deliveries in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n WMTW reports the airline reported USPS did make some payments earlier in the year however there have been no payments since March 13 on top of not being paid for any deliveries in 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n The airlines were still making deliveries for FedEx and UPS on Tuesday however they\u2019re looking to get to an agreement with USPS.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2026\/04\/21\/deliveries-canceled-maine-airline-says-postal-service-owes-it-nearly-400k-years-deliveries\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Parking lot project nears completion ahead of little league season<\/b><\/p>\n Ellsworth\u2019s DeMeyer Field is almost complete ahead of Little League season which is set to begin in May.<\/span><\/p>\n Leaders at the Ellsworth Rotary Club have led the project to increase safety and keep kids out of the street at the fields.<\/span><\/p>\n The Ellsworth American reports nearly $180,000 has been raised to support the project however they aren\u2019t done yet.<\/span><\/p>\n The publication reports they\u2019re looking to secure about $50,000 to complete the project and you can help.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/new-parking-lot-installed-at-demeyer-field-ahead-of-little-league-season\/article_39a9b988-d94b-4cdf-b1bb-f73cfca60732.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Downeast Salmon Federation \u2018Annual Smelt Fry & Fisheries\u2019 celebration<\/b><\/p>\n The weather is supposed to shape up pretty nice this weekend!<\/span><\/p>\n If you\u2019re looking to get out and about, head to Columbia Falls for the 24th Annual Smelt Fry and Fisheries celebration.<\/span><\/p>\n Hosted by Downeast Salmon Federation on Saturday, April 25, you can enjoy the classic Maine meal while celebrating the shared connection to rivers, fish and place.<\/span><\/p>\n In addition to the event, participants can enjoy live music, activities for kids, a beer tent and hatchery tours.<\/span><\/p>\n Don\u2019t worry, if you\u2019re not a smelt fan, there\u2019s options for you as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
