News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Officers a shot man after swinging a sword during traffic stop<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Friday, officers shot a man during a traffic stop after he was swinging a sword in Calais.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the Calais Police chief, officers from the department and the Washington County Sheriff\u2019s Office attempted to taze 35-year-old Abinadi White after he failed to listen to commands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WABI news reports as officers attempted to taze him they were unsuccessful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After attempting to take him into custody, police say White grabbed a sword and swung it at officers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s when he was shot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WABI news reports the man was taken to the hospital and is now stable with charges infant<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An Otter Creek man has been indicted by the Hancock county grand jury.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">19-year-old James Butler faces multiple assault charges along with a domestic violence charge on a child less than six years old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Ellsworth American reports the Bar Harbor police department investigated that case involving Butler saying a baby who was seven months old was assaulted by Butler.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The publication reports the baby suffered a broken bone while left in Butler&#8217;s care earlier this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He\u2019s also charged with violating conditions of release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a voting results could leave Mainers waiting\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Election day on Tuesday gives Mainers many things to consider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, the results could take some time due to ranked-choice tabulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WABI news spoke with the Secretary of State\u2019s office who coordinates the collection and tabulation of ranked-choice votes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The chief deputy secretary and chief of staff Kate McBrien will be taking over duties for the primary since Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is a candidate in this year&#8217;s primary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">McBrien told WABI first-choice results could be clear from initial review Tuesday night however the ranked-choice process could take more than a week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Only law enforcement can transport ballots and bring them to Augusta however McBrien also says once the results are in the system, results should come quickly with an estimated date of June Ellsworth voters should know ahead of June 9th primary election<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ellsworth voters here\u2019s a few reminders ahead of election day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Starting now, any absentee ballots can only be issued with a Special Circumstances request form.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re wondering what those circumstances are, they include an unexpected absence from the municipality during the entire time polls are open, a physical disability, inability to travel or incapacity of illness that results in a voter being unable to leave their home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The City of Ellsworth says all four polling places in Ellsworth gathered in Rockland Saturday to remember Virginia \u2018Ginny\u2019 Oliver, the beloved lobster lady.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">WABI news reports Saturday would\u2019ve been Oliver&#8217;s 106th birthday, so people gathered on the Rockland Harbor and enjoyed a boat parade in her honor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Oliver&#8217;s lobstering career spanned 95 years as she started hauling traps at eight years old and didn\u2019t stop until she was 102.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Oliver passed away in January at
