{"id":1684,"date":"2026-07-06T05:30:50","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T09:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/star977fm.com\/?p=1684"},"modified":"2026-07-05T12:12:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T16:12:52","slug":"07-06-26-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/star977fm.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/06\/07-06-26-news\/","title":{"rendered":"07-06-26 News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Man dies in Hancock from motorcycle crash<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Friday a Sullivan man died following a head-on motorcycle crash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maine State Police say just before 8:30 a.m., 44-year-old Jim Hoyt was driving westbound on a motorcycle, crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a pickup truck in Hancock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Police say Hoyt was wearing a helmet and the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries from the crash.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The crash remains under investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Member of Robbins family dies from injuries in Searsmont explosion<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maine Department of Public Safety shared that Alden J. Robbins died from injuries he suffered in the explosion and fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Robbins family shared he died on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The family said Robbins was the co-owner of the mill and served as Vice President of Sales for the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They expressed gratitude for the care provided by teams at Maine Medical Center and the Sumner Redstone Burn Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A celebration of life will be held at a later date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Company that owns assisted living homes in Hancock &amp; Waldo county faces liens and debts<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The owner of at least five Maine assisted living homes in Hancock and Waldo counties faces lawsuits for unpaid debts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Magnolia Assisted Living faces two major lawsuits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the Bangor Daily news, lawsuits involve alleged unpaid debts that total more than $900,000 on top of multiple liens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The publication reports there is a pattern of liens on properties in Maine over the last several years including an active case in Waldo County.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company is based out of Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a circle program<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A community collaboration will set the stage for monthly sessions of discussions about grief, affordability of MDI or communicating through conflicting times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Downeast Restorative Justice and the Northeast Harbor Library will host their community circle program on July 9, August 13 and September 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On July 9, participants will discuss processing grief and there\u2019s no expectation expected to show up, listen and be been a major movement in education around protecting our trees across the state as multiple invasive species have been present.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s why the City of Ellsworth is hosting an intro to tree pests and disease presentation on Wednesday, July 8.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attendees will hear from the city\u2019s urban forestry assistant about controlling methods, signs and symptoms related to pest and disease issues seen today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The free event starts at 6 p.m. and there\u2019s no need to register for the presentation which will be held at the Heart of Ellsworth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a
