Multiple 911 calls lead to arrest of reckless driver<\/b><\/p>\n
Maine State Police say 14 calls to 911 led to the arrest of a reckless driver on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n 22-year-old Alexandre Forsythe of Jaffrey, New Hampshire is charged with criminal OUI and criminal speed.<\/span><\/p>\n Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, callers notified authorities about a car traveling over 100 mph and driving erratically around northbound 1-295 in the Bowdoinham area.<\/span><\/p>\n Troopers then tracked down Forsythe and arrested him in Waterville.<\/span><\/p>\n Local medical shop files complaint against City of Ellsworth<\/b><\/p>\n After the Ellsworth City Council denied a business license for a local medical marijuana shop, the owners have filed a complaint against the city.<\/span><\/p>\n Marijuanaville said they would pursue legal action.<\/span><\/p>\n The Ellsworth American reports the owner filed a complaint to the Hancock Superior Court earlier this month alleging the license denial failed to apply local ordinances and violated due process.<\/span><\/p>\n This after months of back and forth over licensing and the city council voicing concerns over public health after the city adopted a new cannabis establishment performance standards.<\/span><\/p>\n The publication reports a patient also complained about an adverse health reaction from products purchased while investigators found unsafe levels of pesticides in batches of concentrate from the store.<\/span><\/p>\n The owner says the product was removed and additional tests have been done.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/marijuanaville-owner-files-complaint-against-city-over-license-denial\/article_01841fb3-ce35-4121-a9d1-1ca10b38573c.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Burnham woman found guilty on animal cruelty charges<\/b><\/p>\n On Friday, a Burnham woman was found guilty on four counts of cruelty to animals by a Waldo County jury.<\/span><\/p>\n 41-year-old Alexis Ingraham was accused of mistreating a number of horses, dogs and cats on her farm in February 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n WABI news reports during the trial, things got heated during a cross-examination leading to Ingraham shouting and pointing at District Attorney Natasha Irving.<\/span><\/p>\n Ingraham even took the stand herself saying she always took care of the animals and other people are to blame for their poor health.<\/span><\/p>\n WABI reports this is not the first time Ingraham has been found guilty of animal cruelty.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2026\/08\/14\/burnham-woman-found-guilty-all-counts-animal-cruelty-trial\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Repair work continues on Bridge Hill<\/b><\/p>\n The City of Ellsworth provided an update on the closure of Bridge Hill.<\/span><\/p>\n The water main break has been repaired however the damage to the road and a section of Bridge Hill is not safe for motorists.<\/span><\/p>\n City officials say due to that, traffic diversion will remain in place as city crews coordinate with the Maine DOT on repairs and next steps.<\/span><\/p>\n Once city officials have a repair schedule, it will be announced.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthmaine.gov\/bridge-hill-update-road-remains-closed-while-repair-work-is-coordinated\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Hancock Volunteer Fire Department hosts grand opening\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n On Aug. 22, the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department welcomes you!<\/span><\/p>\n From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. they will host a grand opening of their new fire station.<\/span><\/p>\n The Ellsworth American reports the fire chief says it coincides with Hancock Day events and this will be held at the 13 Cemetery Road location.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/hancock-volunteer-fire-department-fire-station-grand-opening-aug-22\/article_71549daa-4f37-416a-9555-0faec70a4f24.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n 2026 Maine Outdoor Film Festival hits Acadia National Park<\/b><\/p>\n On August 27, mark your calendars for an outdoor film festival at Schoodic Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n The Maine Outdoor Film Festival will hit Acadia National Park for an evening of outdoor adventure, conservation films and a unique experience under the stars.<\/span><\/p>\n The films start at 7:30 p.m. and organizers encourage you to get there early so you can secure a spot.<\/span><\/p>\n Also, they say it\u2019ll be good to bring a chair and or blanket, warm layers, a headlamp, bug spray and your favorite movie snacks.<\/span><\/p>\n For more information on the film lineup and to get your tickets, follow the link below.<\/span><\/p>\n
