Rep. Jared Golden announced Wednesday he is not seeking reelection after serving eight years in Congress.<\/span><\/p>\n Golden took to the Bangor Daily News in an op-ed that was published Wednesday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n In the article, while he says he believes he would win, Golden cites \u201cincreasing incivility and plain nastiness\u201d for his departure, saying recent events of political violence made him reassess \u201cfrequent threats\u201d against him and his family.<\/span><\/p>\n He also mentioned how the current government shutdown has shown \u201cjust how broken Congress has become\u201d for both parties.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2025\/11\/05\/rep-jared-golden-announces-he-will-not-run-reelection\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Recount request for city council race in Ellsworth\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n According to the Ellsworth American, a recount has been requested for the Ellsworth City Council race.<\/span><\/p>\n The paper reports John Linnehan, who has run for city council several times, sent an email to the city Tuesday night after landing in fourth place.<\/span><\/p>\n A representative from the clerk’s office told the Ellsworth American they are working on a plan for the requested recount.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/politics\/recount-requested-in-tight-ellsworth-city-council-race\/article_21958a98-17ba-4222-be21-6deb78909900.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Washington County reject $11 million bond on election day<\/b><\/p>\n Voters rejected an $11 million bond designed to cover the county\u2019s deficits and project cash shortfalls.<\/span><\/p>\n According to the Bangor Daily News, 53% voted against the measure while 47% voted in favor.<\/span><\/p>\n The county has said starting in 2020, funds that were thought to be a surplus in the budget were carried over each year into 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n In a post from the Washington County Sheriff\u2019s Office, they say once a certified public accountant reviewed the unaudited books, they found accounting errors that showed the county had been running at a deficit.<\/span><\/p>\n Washington County says the shortage was not discovered sooner because of ARPA funds received by the county in 2021 and 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
