City of Ellsworth finalizes lease agreement for Moore Community Center<\/b><\/p>\n
The official signing of a new lease agreement for the Moore Community center in Ellsworth will take place on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n City officials tell Star 97.7 the important milestone marks a major moment for the community and three cornerstone tenant organizations such as the Downeast Family YMCA, Friends in Action and the Ellsworth Community Music Institute.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This will ensure there\u2019s a fair and sustainable arrangement with rental payments supporting the city\u2019s efforts to maintain the community center.<\/span><\/p>\n The finalization will happen at 10AM at 125 State Street.<\/span><\/p>\n Major heating oil spill in Kenduskeag Stream<\/b><\/p>\n According to the Bangor Daily News, roughly 75 gallons of heating oil spilled into the Kenduskeag Stream in downtown Bangor Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n The Maine Department of Environmental Protection had an employee on site as crews worked to clean the spill.<\/span><\/p>\n The paper says an oil company was delivering fuel at a building between Franklin and Central streets at around 5AM and the driver hit a concrete abutment and damaged the oil release.<\/span><\/p>\n The Maine DEP oil and hazardous materials responder told the BDN if any employees who work near the spill notice fumes or vapor issues indoors to call the DEP.<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.bangordailynews.com\/2025\/11\/17\/bangor\/bangor-environment\/75-gallons-heating-oil-spilled-kenduskeag\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Houlton nurse strike begins Nov. 18<\/b><\/p>\n The two-day strike put on by nurses at the Houlton Regional Hospital is officially underway.<\/span><\/p>\n Tuesday and Wednesday nurses will protest management\u2019s refusal to improve staffing and patient safety.<\/span><\/p>\n The Maine State Nurses Association tells Star 97.7 that since the abrupt closure of the community\u2019s labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum department, some babies are being delivered in the emergency department.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The strike will take place at the Houlton Regional Hospital and the hospital was notified of the strike on Nov. 7.<\/span><\/p>\n Ellsworth Historical society surpasses fundraising goal<\/b><\/p>\n According to the Ellsworth American, the Ellsworth Historical society\u2019s \u2018Roof over the Archives\u2019 campaign has surpassed the society\u2019s goal.<\/span><\/p>\n The paper says the society raised more than $36,000 and by Nov. 14, 37 donors had contributed more than enough to start a $13,000 match from a donor-advised fund at the Maine Community Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n Staff from the society tells the Ellsworth American after the roof repairs are made on the Chamberlain House, the society plans to make other improvements to stabilize the property.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/announcements\/historical-society-roof-repair-campaign-surpasses-goal\/article_a284225f-bb1e-43bd-9477-e88e16be7895.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Support local cancer patients in a sweet way<\/b><\/p>\n
