Mills signs proclamation certifying 2025 state election<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governor Mills signed proclamations on Tuesday certifying the results of the November 4 election, according to WABI news.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Secretary of State\u2019s Office says Mainers cast 492,008 ballots this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s approximately 47.4% of registered voters in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Secretary of State\u2019s Office says as of Tuesday, Maine has 1,037,786 registered voters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Complete Referendum Election results are posted on the Secretary of State\u2019s website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2025\/11\/18\/gov-mills-signs-proclamation-certifying-2025-state-election\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2025\/11\/18\/gov-mills-signs-proclamation-certifying-2025-state-election\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Hancock County Chief Deputy appointed to Substance Use Disorder Commission<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the Ellsworth American, the Hancock County Sheriff Chief Deputy William Birch has been appointed to the Maine Substance Use Disorder Services Commission by Governor Janet Mills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The paper said earlier this month, the sheriff\u2019s office stated this honor recognizes Birch&#8217;s dedication to public service.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maine Department of Health and Human Services describes the commission to the Ellsworth American as a bridge between behavioral Health, the public, and elected officials on substance use disorder and misuse, prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/chief-deputy-named-to-substance-use-disorder-commission\/article_833846d9-4a55-4d02-a148-1bfa525e4c01.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/www.ellsworthamerican.com\/news\/chief-deputy-named-to-substance-use-disorder-commission\/article_833846d9-4a55-4d02-a148-1bfa525e4c01.html<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Maine PUC dismisses CMP\u2019s latest rate hike proposal<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A rate hike that would\u2019ve ultimately added about $35 a month to some Mainers\u2019 electric bills isn\u2019t going forward at this time according to WABI news.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maine Public Utilities Commission Tuesday morning dismissed a five-year rate increase proposal from Central Maine Power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CMP filed the plan in September. According to the PUC, it was met with a wave of backlash, including more than 800 written comments and packed public meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Commissioners say while they will consider future rate increases and system investments are necessary, this proposal raised many concerns including affordability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wabi.tv\/2025\/11\/18\/maine-puc-dismisses-cmps-latest-rate-increase-proposal\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: CDC<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maine CDC is reporting that a Maine child is in the hospital after consuming now-recalled baby formula products made by ByHeart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On November 14, the FDA announced there have been 23 reported cases of suspected or confirmed botulism in babies who consumed the formula since August.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company recalled two lots of their ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula before expanding the recall to their entire line of products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Those reported cases span 13 states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All cases have led to hospitalizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The suspected case in Maine was reported on November 17, according to the Maine CDC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The child had consumed ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula in the weeks prior to their illness and remains hospitalized.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ByHeart sells 200,000 cans of infant formula a month online and in stores such as Target and Walmart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a Forestry launches food access map<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry has launched a statewide food map to help families locate nearby food pantries, meal sites, school programs, WIC clinics and other food assistance services.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The map will continually be updated as they work with local programs and organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The map was created by people a part of the \u2018Ending Hunger Corps\u2019 as they work to
