Mount Desert Island regional school restructure vote postponed
The vote on restructuring the Mount Desert Island Regional school system has been postponed.
Now residents will expect the subject to be on the referendum in November providing more time for public feedback and the chance to create the plan as desired.
The Ellsworth American reports the superintendent of schools says the delay will give citizens more time to understand the importance of the transition.
The publication reports the proposal looks to consolidate administrative and financial structures to strengthen schools and ability to adapt to challenges ahead.
House fire in Brewer displaces two people
Monday night, firefighters responded to a home fully engulfed in Brewer.
At around 8:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the home on Wiswell Road and saw heavy flames coming from the residence.
WABI news reports the two people living there were not home at the time and no injuries were reported.
The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.

AARP warning Mainers to apply to refunds after Bitcoin scam
AARP Maine and the Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection are calling on Mainers who lost money to a Bitcoin-related scam.
April 1 is the deadline for Mainers to see if they’re eligible to apply and receive a refund from the $1.9 million settlement fund.
This after the two-year investigation into Bitcoin kiosk activity across the state.

Lamoine fraud prevention seminar
If you need tips on detecting fraud, you may want to head to the Lamoine Town Hall on April 21 at 1 p.m.
The town will host a fraud prevention seminar covering various tactics to spot fraud and scams.
The Ellsworth American reports there will also be card fraud prevention experts there as well.
Leaders at Ellsworth Moose Lodge lead trail clean-up effort
The Ellsworth Rail Trail will get a spring-cleaning by leaders at the Ellsworth Moose Lodge.
The popular trail connects downtown Ellsworth to Ellsworth Falls and over time has accumulated litter and debris so they’re calling on community members to join them.
On April 4 starting at noon, you can volunteer to help with the cleanup to keep the spirit of Ellsworth thriving.

Joyful tunes will head to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor
“The joy of playing chamber music” will be demonstrated in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor on Thursday, April 2.
Starting at 6:30 p.m. Downeast New Music will provide music and conversation around the multitude of themes, context, techniques and relationships between each piece.
