West Bath woman arrested for Arson

A woman has been arrested for arson in connection with a fire at her home in West Bath nearly two weeks ago.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says 38-year-old Grace Burnham of West Bath was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail.

Officials say the fire destroyed a barn that was used for goats but no injuries were reported.

Authorities say Burnham is being charged with arson, animal cruelty, and failure to report or control a dangerous fire.

City of Ellsworth officials enstate spending freeze

Budget stability is the goal of a new spending freeze throughout the city of Ellsworth.

According to the Bangor Daily News that includes plans to pause renovations on Knowlton Park playground which was built 22 years ago.

However, there’s no concerns with the safety of the playground.

Penobscot County officials receive pushback on new jail

After voicing the need for a new jail, Penobscot County officials are receiving pushback from local groups.

The last time the Penobscot county jail saw renovations was in 1988.

WABI news reports the  Penobscot County Sheriff says it’s in disrepair however local groups say the funds should be used to keep people out of jail for social programs.

The Penobscot County Sheriff agreed however he believes there needs to be a physical plan that makes sense in hopes it’ll be voted on this year.

Accessible path to Cadillac Mountain underway

A new chapter in Acadia National Park is underway.

Friends of Acadia have partnered with the national park to start the first phase of building a path called the East-West Connector Trail to increase accessibility.

The Ellsworth American reports currently Cadillac Summit Road is closed to cars, cyclists and pedestrians.

The publication reports the goal of the trail is to create a safe pedestrian route between two parking lots as the area sees a lot of visitors throughout the year.

Park officials tell the paper by May, the road is expected to reopen and any additional work will be completed in the Fall.

Supporting kids with ADHD, Anxiety and Neurodivergence

Those at the Blue Hill Public Library want to support children with ADHD, Anxiety and neurodivergence.

On Wednesday, April 8 from 5-6:30 p.m., parents can join Echo Consulting to discuss different ways that forms of neurodivergence can reflect in learning, socially and daily routines.

The inclusive workshop will help parents understand how kids process information and their emotions.
