Maine lawmakers demand answers from USPS after failed payments

After failing to pay a Maine Contractor, the Maine Congressional Delegation is demanding answers from USPS.

Last week, officials from Penobscot Island Air in Rockland halted deliveries from USPS due to them owing more than $349,000 for mail delivery service.

However, USPS agreed to pay 25% of the outstanding balance which is on top of the remaining balance for the 2026 year so far.

Lawmakers are still concerned and demand answers which is why they sent a letter to Postmaster General voicing frustration around the matter citing the service delivers essential needs to Maine island residents.
