Serious crash closes Route 9 in Eddington
Route 9 closed down in Eddington Monday after fire and police responded to a serious crash.
According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s office, the collision happened at 1:30 PM near the Eddington Fire Department.
Motorists were asked to seek an alternative route and the sheriff’s office reconstructed the scene.
No word on injuries.
Raymond man faces attempted murder charge
After driving into a Bar Harbor patrol car earlier this year, a Raymond man has been indicted by the Hancock County grand jury.
23-year-old Riley McClure faces multiple charges including assault on an ER personnel.
The Ellsworth American reports McClure was treated at a Mount Desert Island hospital after the crash and struck a nurse.
The publication reports McClure will undergo forensic examination to determine his competency to proceed with the case.
Preliminary report of accident at BGR released
Just last month an accident took place at the Bangor International Airport.
Now the National Transportation Safety Board released their preliminary findings.
WABI news reports just after 4 PM on May 1, a Beech C23 aircraft showed signs of struggle including a rough engine startup, a pilot’s door opening during the climb and overall roughness before losing power.
The plane was owned by a local pilot school with a pilot in-training and instructor on board.
Nobody was hurt.
Balloon makes historic trek across the Atlantic from Presque Isle
History has been made!
A hydrogen balloon that took off from Presque Isle has made it to Europe.
WABI news reports the Atlantic Explorer is the first hydrogen-powered balloon to cross the Atlantic and the crew crossed France Saturday afternoon.
The balloon landed in Luxembourg safely Sunday morning.

The Heart of Ellsworth unveiled a 2026 downtown map highlighting businesses, public amenities, parking, EV charging, restrooms and more.
Leaders with the organization say the largest version is on display at the Franklin Street Parklet and two smaller versions are at the corner of State and Main streets on the side of The Bud Connection.
The installations were done by Banner City Graphics out of Bucksport.
