Brewer woman dies after rollover crash in Newburgh
On Saturday, a 58-year-old woman died after a rollover crash in Newburgh.
Maine State Police say the single-vehicle crash happened on Interstate 95 at around 1:30 pm near mile marker 174.
Police say the driver was traveling northbound in the passing lane when the car left the roadway and rolled over several times.
Police say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and had to be extricated from the car.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Penobscot County Sheriff’s investigate fatal ATV crash
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s office is investigating a fatal ATV crash in Corinth on Saturday.
The crash happened on Beech Grove Road at around 10 pm.
WABI news reports when deputies arrived they found an ATV left the roadway, rolled into a wooded area and two people were thrown out of it.
Deputies say one person was pronounced dead at the scene and the other person was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
WABI news reports the sheriff’s office says speed, reckless operation and alcohol may have been contributing factors.

Eliot Cutler arrested for 6th probation violation
Eliot Cutler is in jail for violating the terms of his probation for the sixth time.
The 79-year-old former gubernatorial candidate was convicted in 2023 of possessing child sexual abuse materials and recently appeared in court after a judge granted him limited internet access.
The Bangor Daily News says Cutler’s attorney told them based on information available, Cutler was arrested for “failing to sign a probation treatment plan document that had internet restrictions that were completely inconsistent with what the court specifically ordered last week.”
Harvest farm dinner will support food security
A little over a month away, the College of the Atlantic will host an event to support food security on Mount Desert Island.
The Beech Hill Farm will set the table for the annual Share the Harvest Farm dinner on Friday, July 17.
Students have created this only direct farm-based food access initiative serving the MDI community bringing fresh, organic, and locally grown produce for low-income residents.
The event will start at 5 PM with a reception followed by a three-course dinner by Havana restaurant.

Thousands gather in Dover-Foxcroft for Whoopie Pie festival
For over a decade, Dover-Foxcroft has hosted the annual Whoopie Pie Festival and thousands gathered to continue that tradition over the weekend.
Of course there were thousands of whoopie pies to match the number of attendees.
WABI news reports organizers say there were an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 whoopie pies available for tasting.
While it’s good fun, the festival is also the largest fundraiser for the Center Theatre and also benefits multiple organizations in the community providing a great economic boost.
MDI festival celebrates fishing village of Tremont
Get ready for a huge celebration on Mount Desert Island!
From June 26-28 join locals as the fishing village of Tremont celebrates their culture.
The Ellsworth American reports a lobster feed, dance, relay race and car show are just a few things people can look forward to.
The publication reports there will be music, a raffle drawing, awards and food trucks after the races.
