Corinna man charged for possessing sexually explicit material of children
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s office says they’ve charged a man with sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of sexually explicit material.
This is after 25–year-old Douglas Moody of Corinna used a video game to exploit children.
Deputies say the investigation began in April after receiving a complaint and the investigation showed Moody was on probation and the sex offender registry for similar crimes in 2024.
Deputies say there were multiple victims.
Wildfire smoke expected to rise over the weekend
During the holiday weekend, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection says wildfire smoke will likely rise.
Officials say the smoke will push particle pollution to ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ levels for short periods statewide.

$3,000 cash bail set for Indiana man in fatal crash
After an Indiana man crashed his car in Township 22 a week ago claiming the life of his son and injuring a 10-month-old, a judge set his bail.
33-year-old Dion Cambell appeared in court on Wednesday via Zoom.
The Ellsworth American reports Campbell has a broken leg and other injuries from the crash.
The publication states he’s been charged with manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant involving death and aggravated driving to endanger.
His bail is set at $3,000.

Belmont firefighter discharged from hospital after Robbins Lumber explosion
Some good news out of Portland.
A Belmont firefighter who was badly burned from the fire and explosion at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont is being discharged from Maine Medical Center Friday.
WABI news reports Katie Paige spent more than a week on a ventilator following the incident suffering burns to her face and hands resulting in several fingers being amputated.
A convoy will escort Paige out of Portland with an additional stop at the Augusta Civic Center.
Drive sober this Fourth of July
The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety put out a reminder to all Mainers driving this weekend to plan for a sober ride.
Officials say days around the fourth of July rank as one of the deadliest periods on Maine roads so make a plan for sorbet transportation before participating in festivities.

Loaves & Fishes set to hold volunteer appreciation event
In order for the community to support each other it takes a village and when you get the chance to say thank you to those who make it possible, it’s special.
Loaves and Fishes food pantry will host their third annual volunteer appreciation event on Saturday, July 11.
From 5-7 p.m. they’ll highlight community members who help provide hunger relief and beyond.
