RV catches fire in Trenton
Tuesday morning, the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department responded to an RV fire.
It happened at Narrows Too Campground just before 8 a.m.
WABI news reports everyone inside the camper was able to get out safely before crews arrived.
The RV was significantly damaged and is no longer drivable.
Pharmacy in Eastport closes after recent violations
There’s only one pharmacy in Eastport and now its doors are closed.
This after state officials say there were multiple violations.
The Bangor Daily News reports leading up to the closure, state officials concluded pharmacists had over-filled a controlled substance, failed to maintain accurate records and ignored proper training practices for pharmacy staff.
The publication reports the Eastport Family Pharmacy was opened by Bangor-based pharmacist Benjamin Okafor.
Portland Diocese reaches financial agreements with victims of sexual abuse
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland has reached financial settlements with a number of people who previously sued the church.
The civil lawsuits alleged sexual abuse by Catholic priests between 1954 and 1988.
Maine no longer has a statute of limitations for civil child sexual abuse claims.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled that older claims could not be revived retroactively.
WMTW reports despite that ruling, the Diocese of Portland decided to enter into settlement agreements with some survivors.
Hannaford recipes ground beef sold at Farmington location
Ground beef sold at the Hannaford store in Farmington have been recalled.
The recall was announced on Monday afternoon.
WABI news reports Hannaford brand packages of 81% lean ground beef that were bought at the store on Saturday, Aug. 1 and that has a sell-by-date of Sunday.
Hannaford officials say the meat contains foreign material.
There haven’t been any reports of people getting sick as a result of eating the beef.
The beef or its packaging may be returned to the store for a full refund.
COA urges boaters to share humpback whale sightings safely
There’s been a lot of talk about humpback whale activity along the Maine coast recently.
It’s a majestic thing to witness the beautiful sea creature and College of the Atlantic Allied Whale researchers are asking boaters to share photos and sighting information safely.
Researchers say it’s important to maintain legal distances to photograph whale tail flukes, dorsal fins or markings.

Boaters who encounter whales should follow established federal viewing guidelines:
- Remain at least 100 yards from all large whales.
- If a whale may be a North Atlantic right whale, remain at least 500 yards away, as required by federal law.
- Slow your vessel and never approach a whale head-on or attempt to close the distance for a better view or photograph.
- If a whale approaches your vessel, place the engine in neutral and allow the animal to pass.
- Never surround, chase, or trap a whale between boats or between a boat and the shoreline.
- Please avoid flying drones or other unmanned aircraft over or near whales.
