Teen dies in ATV crash in Fort Fairfield
The Maine Warden service tells Star 97.7 one teen died and another was injured in an ATV crash.
It happened on Old East Road in Fort Fairfield on Sunday.
The Warden Service says a 15-year-old was driving a side-by-side when the driver turned hard while accelerating which caused the ATV to roll over.
The 15-year-old died at the scene according to the Warden service and the driver was taken to a Caribou hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
Sinkhole repair underway on High Street
Motorists traveling through the High Street area in Ellsworth should use caution as crews work to repair a sinkhole.
The damage was reported on a portion of the right-hand lane on High Street on Monday.
The closure is located between Pizza Hut and the first entrance to the Hannaford plaza so city officials advise you to use caution and have patience.
Brick fundraiser underway for library expansion
A new brick circle personalizing the Friend Memorial Public Library is taking shape.
Construction started earlier this year at the library in Brooklin to expand the facility and house the Anne and Maynard Bray MArtitime Research Center.
WABI news reports the library says it will be one of the nation’s most important private collections of material and photographs related to wooden boat and ship design.
The fundraiser will contribute to larger spaces to display history, a larger space for kids and teens and quiet reading rooms.

Owls Head residents to vote on additional cell tower in town
On Monday, Aug. 24, Owls Head residents will vote on whether they approve the plan of bringing in an additional cell tower.
If approved it would be the second one in town.
The Midcoast Villager reports during a town meeting, an attorney speaking on behalf of Verizon Wireless says they’d talked with the select board and planning board last year about the addition however they want to bring the matter to the town.
The attorney said the cell tower would fill in communication gaps for Verizon customers in the eastern part of Owls Head especially regarding emergency calls and business operations.
Homeschool informational fair hosted by Woodlawn Barn
Everyone is soaking up the last bit of Summer as school is right around the corner.
However, with back to school preparations across the region comes the Homeschool Informational Fair.
Happening on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Woodlawn Barn homeschool students and families can connect with local organizations and learn about educational programs.

Friends of Acadia host 40 for Acadia Challenge
Friends of Acadia are challenging you to spend a little more time outdoors.
The 40 for Acadia challenge celebrates FOA’s 40 anniversary and also highlights the time you spend in the beautiful national park.
The challenge is to log 40 miles of any activity in Acadia which can include hiking, biking, walking, swimming, paddling, adaptive ridicule, touring or by carriage or just volunteer your time for four hours.
Once you complete that activity submit to the form on our website and for every submission the Cornelia Cogswell Rossi Foundational will donate $40 to Friends of Acadia.
