PCHC closing a Bangor office amid financial struggles
After announcing Penobscot Community Health Care needs $3 million within 30 to 60 days to avoid bankruptcy, the president and CEO Lori Dwyer says layoffs have already begun.
An email was sent to employees on Thursday.
WABI news reports in the email, the Adult Wellness Center on Union Street in Bangor is expected to close on Nov. 6.
Dwyer says services will transition to the PCHC center and other locations confirming patient care will not be interrupted.
WABI news reports Dwyer says closing the adult wellness center is expected to save about $400,000 a year.

Madawaska town officials hold emergency town meeting
On Thursday an emergency town meeting was held in Madawaska.
The Bangor Daily news reports it’s because of discussions around allegations on the town manager.
David Daigle was accused of sending sexually explicit messages through his Facbeoo account.
However, he responded to the allegations claiming his account was hacked.
The select board addressed the situation in a private session before turning it to a public vote.
RSU 24 board turns down effort analyzing weighted voting system
After the RSU 24 board voted to recognize only two sexes, a petition and Freedom of Access act request has brought up the weighted voting system.
During a meeting on Tuesday, RSU 24’s board of directors voted against creating a committee to examine the voting system.
The Ellsworth American reports a citizen petition with over 400 signatures requested further evaluation of the system.
One board member tells the publication due to the recent Title IX vote, attendees have voiced a lot of negativity.
However, board members are also hearing from community members who feel their voices aren’t heard.
The next board of directors meeting is scheduled for Oct. 6.
Portions of Route 90 shut down after fuel leak
On Thursday, authorities reported parts of Route 90 in Rockport closed down.
This after a fuel leak occurred after a car crashed into fuel tanks.
WABI news reports the town of Rockport says the fuel tanks were next to Tolman Pond Market which closed down areas between Mill Street and Route 17.
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has been called to help with cleanup.
