Police identify car involved in hit and run in Dover-Foxcroft
On Wednesday, a man died after a hit and run crash in Dover-Foxcroft.
Police say they have now identified the vehicle involved in the crash.
WABI news reports Dover-Foxcroft police were called to North Street at around 8pm for a report of an unresponsive person found on the side of the road.
Police say 73-year-old Barry Lial of Cambridge died at the scene and police believed he was struck by a car.
There’s no additional details at this time as the case is under investigation.

Maine lawmaker says a new ICE facility is expected to open soon
On Thursday, Maine State Representative Mike Soboleski said construction will be underway in Newport for a potential ICE facility.
He shared information through a Facebook post.
WMTW reports construction is expected to start soon at the former district courthouse in Newport claiming the facility will help the deportation process move quicker.
WMTW reached out to ICE for comment on the new potential facility however, they did not respond.
Man on probation for manslaughter arrest on drug charges
Two people have been arrested for drug trafficking in Washington County including a man convicted of manslaughter.
39-year-old Rian Moore of Danforth was wanted for aggravated trafficking of meth.
26-year-old Courtney Stoddard was also arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of fentanyl and unlawful trafficking of meth.
WABI news reports Moore was sentenced to prison recently for a hit-and-run crash that killed a 50-year-old Frenchville man in 2022.

Four candidates are competing to fill two open seats on the Ellsworth City Council in November.
This after a recall effort failed to remove five sitting councilors.
The Bangor Daily News reports incumbent Nancy Smith, Casey Hanson, Tiffany Dilda-Gaspar and Robert Grant Sr. will all be on the ballot.
Recently, city councilors have received feedback from residents voicing frustration with alleged bullying and lack of financial transparency according to the publication.

College of the Atlantic’s Share the Harvest benefit concert will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at their Beech Hill Farm.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. you’ll hear from The Soulbenders as they perform live music paired with baked goods for sale and merchandise.
All of the proceeds will go toward the student-run Share the Harvest food access program which creates more opportunities for members of Washington and Hancock counties to access local organic produce.
