Rockland Traffic Delays
Those driving through RocklandTuesday morning can expect some delays in their commute.
According to WABI News, Rockland Police said Main Street between Orient Street and the Key Bank Drive Through will be shut down to one lane which started at 2PM on Monday.
Officials say both lanes will be closed this morning so use caution when you travel.
Union man sentenced for trafficking drugs from New York to Maine
A Union man was sentenced in the U.S. District Court in Portland for distributing fentanyl and cocaine.
40-year-old Kenneth Adams is sentenced to 10 years in federal prison followed by eight years of supervised release for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine from New York to Maine according to WABI news.
Court records show from at least December 2023 through June 2024, Adams trafficked fentanyl and cocaine from sources of supply in the Bronx to mid-level drug dealers in Knox County for further distribution.
He pleaded guilty in December of 2024.
Car fire in Thomaston
Thomaston Fire, ambulance and police responded to a car on fire Monday morning.
The Pen Bay pilot reports authorities were met with billowing black smoke going into the air after responding to the vehicle fire.
The paper reports the truck was located in the back lot of 33 Dexter Street Extension and was destroyed.
Thomaston’s Fire Chief told the Pen Bay pilot the pickup had a diesel tank in the back, filled offsite just prior to the incident, and was intended as a way to redistribute the fuel into an excavator.
The fire department is looking into the cause of the fire, which is considered undetermined at present.
The diesel tank is not believed to be a factor.
Dog disease spreading amongst pups across the state
Over the past few days, reports of dogs getting ill have spread across the state.
Dr. Ai Takeuchi, co-medical director at Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic, told WABI News Parvovirus has become more active in her clinic over the summer months into Fall.
The infection is extremely contagious for dogs and sometimes fatal.
Vomiting and or bloody diarrhea, as well as bone marrow suppression are a few symptoms to be on the lookout for.
WABI News reports the Bangor Dog Park and Houlton Police have officially announced an outbreak.
They advise pet owners to vaccinate their dogs and or isolate them if it’s known they’ve interacted with a dog infected.
Versant Power changes electric bills
Versant Power customers will see changes in their electric bills starting next month due to changes to the stranded costs rate and public policy charge.
The power company announced Monday those in the Bangor Hydro District that use 500 kilowatts a month will see a 12-cent increase in their monthly bill according to WABI News.
Those in the Maine Public District will see a $2.77 decrease.
The new rates will take effect on Wednesday.
Winter Harbor Fire Prevention Day and Open House
The Fire Department will host a Fire Prevention Day and Open House at the town fire station on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Ellsworth American reports the community event will feature a fire prevention station, car seat safety checks and a special appearance by Sparky the Dog.

1st Downeast Fishing Family forum
Efforts to bring Maine’s fishing families together in hopes to create transparency about the industry and changing times it’s faced will spark a new light.
Happening at the Woodlawn Event Center in Ellsworth on October 16th is the first ‘Downeast Fishing Family Forum.’
The event spanning from 10AM to 2PM will provide an opportunity for fishing families along Maine’s Downeast coast to connect, share, and talk about what matters most.
Organizers tell Star 97-7 the highlights will be safety on the water, harvesting health & well-being, mental health supports, community response in emergencies, financial literacy & family stability.
