Man arrested after assault in Bangor
A man was arrested after police say he allegedly assaulted an employee at a Bangor business with a knife.
It happened just before 6:30 a.m., Sunday at a business on Main Street.
Paul Bernard, 61, of Bangor is charged with elevated aggravated assault.
Bangor Police say the employee of the business was taken to a hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Bernard was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.

Northern Light Health and Anthem continue contract talks past extension
Friday was the deadline for Northern Light Health and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine to reach a new contract agreement however no progress has been made yet according to WABI news.
Northern Light Health said Saturday there is no new contract with Anthem.
Anthem told WABI Saturday evening that contract negotiations would continue through the weekend and that they hope to reach a new agreement soon.
With no deal reached yet, NLH non-hospital facilities, doctors, and specialists will leave the Anthem network as of Saturday.

Maine Community Foundation announces $250K grant to address SNAP shortage
The Maine Community Foundation announced a $250,000 donation to mobilize their network of private donors in the effort to help Mainers as SNAP benefits have been cut.
They tell Star 97.7 their community impact team partners with Good Shepherd Food Bank to analyze how the grant could have a maximum impact.

Public invited to discuss Machias Dike replacement options
The Town of Machias and Sunrise County Economic Council is inviting the public to a public meeting Nov. 3 from 5:30PM to 8PM at the Lee Pellon Center located at 90 Main Street in Machias.
The topic of discussion is replacement options for the aging Machias Dike Bridge.
Attendees will have the chance to see scale drawings of possible options, understand discussions among the project committee and share feedback.
A free dinner will be served at the meeting and childcare will be provided.

Final Downtown Ellsworth cleanup on Nov. 8th
The City of Ellsworth and Heart of Ellsworth tells Star 97.7 they’re inviting community members to participate in the final Downtown cleanup.
On Saturday, Nov. 8 from noon to 2PM, volunteers will gather at Franklin Street Parklet and tackle key projects like weeding, litter removal, watering and more.
Those who wish to attend are advised to bring water, warm clothing, gardening gloves and weeding tools.
And of course, snacks and water will be provided.
