Residents in Ellsworth, don’t forget Friday, Nov. 14 at 8AM doors will open to the public for the municipal election recount.
City officials tell Star 97.7 that the official recount will start at 9AM and it will be carried out in full accordance with Maine state election laws and procedures.

Good Shepherd Food Bank set to receive large financial donation
A Maine nonprofit is set to receive a big donation to help families as they prepare for the holiday season, according to WABI news.
On Thursday, Bank of America announced a $250 million national commitment over the next five years to fight hunger and support organizations addressing needs in local communities.
As part of this new commitment, Bank of America is delivering $5 million to nearly 100 nonprofit organizations and $240,000 to hunger-relief organizations across New England.
Good Shepherd Food Bank, Maine’s largest hunger relief organization, is one of six organizations to receive funds.

Winter tips in Ellsworth
A coordinated effort is underway to prepare the City of Ellsworth for winter.
The city tells us they’ve created a plan coordinated with the public works department, parks and recreation, and the fire department.
The plan gives residents an idea about road operations during the winter months, sidewalk operations and hydrant clearing operations.
It also includes tips on parking when bans are in effect and where to push along the snow as you go about your day.

AARP Maine marks National Family Caregivers month
November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to call attention to the selfless Americans who provide care and support to family and friends in need according to WABI news.
New data highlights caregiving prevalence in Maine.
Newly released AARP Caregiving data finds that 28% of Maine adults, about 324,000 people, are caregivers, providing largely unpaid care to loved ones, which can take a toll on caregivers mentally, emotionally, and financially.
According to AARP, caregivers provide nearly $3 million in unpaid care each year in the state.
Responsibilities can range from taking a loved one to medical appointments, managing their medications, or arranging transportation.
AARP does provide resources for caregivers such as their free Family Caregiver Resource Guide.

Camden Ski Swap at Snow Bowl
Skiers and boarders of all ages may want to get to Camden this weekend for the annual Ski Swap on Nov. 15 from 9AM to 2PM at the Camden Snow Bowl lodge.
If you’re looking to sell your used snow sport equipment, this is the perfect opportunity to get it to those who are looking!
If you’d like to drop off some gear you can do so Friday by heading to the Camden Snow Bowl with your stuff and drop off is from 3 to 7PM.
After the swap people can pick up their checks and gear from 2 to 4PM on Saturday and if you don’t retrieve your items don’t worry, it won’t go to waste.
Any gear left will be donated to benefit the Fourth Grade learn to ski program and the Camden Hills regional high school ski team.

UU Clothing Sale in Belfast
Also happening this weekend is the Unitarian Universalist Church clothing sale.
In Belfast, on Friday and Saturday, clothes will help fundraise for the church and can bring you some new looks in your closet in an inexpensive way.
The sale happened today from noon to 6PM and Saturday from 9AM to 1PM.

VFW’s Thanksgiving dinner for seniors and veterans announced
The Ellsworth American reports the VFW Post 109 in Ellsworth will host their annual free Thanksgiving dinner for seniors and veterans in the area on Nov. 22.
The paper says doors will open at 11AM with dinner being served at noon.
Students from Hancock County Technical Center will prepare the food alongside local cub and girl scouts.
