Corinth man accused of shooting and killing his mother held without bail
WABI news reports the Corinth man accused of shooting and killing his mother will be held without bail.
On Monday, 22-year-old Daniel Derosier made his initial court appearance after police responded to a home Saturday morning finding 41-year-old Abigail Thomas dead with a gunshot wound.
A preliminary investigation determined she and her son had been involved in an altercation.
Derosier is being held at Penobscot County jail and is charged with murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
Federal investment to assist rural health care in Maine announced
WTMW reports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services announced that all 50 starters will receive funds under the Rural Health Transformation Program.
The $50-billion initiative will span over five fiscal years.
The program established under the Trump administration will award Maine $190 million for rural hospitals and providers.

Maine Maritime Academy new training ship delivery delayed
According to the Bangor Daily News, the new $330 million Maine Maritime Academy training ship will be delivered a couple of months later than expected.
The publication reports issues were discovered during the testing phase at the Philadelphia shipyard constructing it; however it is on track to get to Maine in February.
It replaces the vessel that the academy has used to train students since 1997.
Grant will continue project on old Hancock county sheriff’s home and jail
The Ellsworth American reports a new grant will boost a project underway to repair the old Hancock county sheriff’s home and jail.
The paper reports the Ellsworth Historical Society will receive over $180,000 from RevitalizeME Downtown Program.
The program supports the rehabilitation of historic sites to boost economic development.
Members of the historical society tell the Ellsworth American the funds will go toward repairs of woodworking, windows, the roof, an HVAC system and removing lead paint.
