Provender Kitchen and Bar in Ellsworth posted on social media that they will be offering free prepared meals for the entire month of November for families whose EBT or SNAP benefits are being impacted.
Provender says to reach out to them directly to arrange details if you or someone you know needs help.
In Bangor, Blaze is offering 50% off their entire food menu for EBT SNAP benefit cardholders.
In a post on social media, they say people can present their current and valid card and form of payment to the guest check presenter and they will take 50% off of the bill.
Bangor crow tests positive for West Nile Virus
The Maine CDC recently confirmed to Bangor officials that a crow found dead in the city was a carrier of the West Nile Virus.
The City of Bangor says While mosquito activity is slowing down, the relatively warmer days are not motivating the insects to hibernate.
WABI reported earlier this month that the Maine CDC identified two deceased crows infected with the virus across the river in Brewer, but said at the time the cases were not an outbreak or cluster.
Bangor Public Health and Community Services says to protect yourself from the mosquito-borne illness, wear bug spray, cover exposed skin by wearing long sleeves and pants, empty standing water and keep anything that could collect water outside overturned.
