New Ellsworth City Council members confirmed
The recount for Ellsworth City Council is complete and while the numbers are different, the end result has not changed according to WABI news.
The city has confirmed that Patrick Shea, Carol Patterson-Martineau, and Marinna Smith will assume the three open seats on the Ellsworth City Council.
Friday’s recount results show that Patterson-Martineau and John Linnehan, who called for the recount, were separated by two votes.
Smith had one more vote than Patterson-Martineau.

Gary Moore Road work on Monday
The City of Ellsworth also wants residents to keep in mind Northeast Paving will be working on Gary Moore Road on Monday, November 17.
There will be one lane of alternating traffic while they are working and they suggest drivers try a different route if possible.
Winter ban and service plan announced in Ellsworth
Take this as your sign winter is coming back because city officials in Ellsworth tell Star 97.7 the winter ban is in effect now until April 1.
Parking is restricted from midnight to 6AM every day.

Also, the winter service plan has been released to help keep roads, sidewalks and neighborhoods safe for everyone.
The plan was coordinated by the public works department, parks and recreation and the fire department.

National Mentoring Visit hosted by Community Action in Aroostook, Washington, and Hancock Counties
Happening Monday, Nov. 17 through Wednesday, Nov. 19 is an Immersive Whole Family Approach Mentoring Visit by the Community Action in Aroostook, Washington and Hancock Counties agency.
The organization is welcoming national leaders and colleagues from Washington D.C. and Missouri to northern Maine to discuss the whole family approach which integrates services to support both children and adults to achieve long-term success.
The activities will take place at the Presque Isle Customer Service Center at 771 Main Street.
American Red Cross partners with PAC-MAN in November
You can score a class pair of Red Cross and PAC-MAN socks for giving blood or platelets starting Nov. 17 through Dec. 7.
According to the American Red Cross, they’re encouraging donors to level up their impact by giving blood or platelets this month.
They only thought it was right to incorporate some fun as they celebrate the 45th anniversary of the legendary video game icon, PAC-MAN.

Two Ellsworth educators named teachers of the year
According to the Ellsworth American, two educators in the Ellsworth School department have been honored with Teacher of the Year awards.
The paper says Tara Mason, a business leadership and hospitality teacher at the Hancock County Technical Center, was awarded the Maine Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year for 2025 at the MCTE fall conference.
Matthew Downs, a physical education teacher at the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School, was named Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the Maine Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance!

Conscious Cafe to host Free Thanksgiving Meal
The Conscious Cafe along with Loaves and Fishes food pantry will offer a free community Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 27 from 11AM to 4PM.
Happening at 50 Church Street in Ellsworth, the meal is open to all and will be available for dine-in and pickup.
Also Loaves and Fishes shoppers, you will be able to pick your holiday meal fixings including turkeys on Nov. 17-21 during pantry open hours.
