Ellsworth man indicted by Waldo County grand jury

A Waldo County grand jury has indicted an Ellsworth man — just two months after he was hit by a truck while allegedly running away from police according to WABI news.

39-year-old Jared Felling is facing 11 counts ranging from burglary and theft to criminal mischief.

Prosecutors say his charges are from an incident in August when he was caught taking items from cars.

In September, Felling was seriously injured after a truck hit him while he was running across the turnpike in Southern Maine.

After the driver of the truck called police to report what had happened, troopers found Felling in a marshy area near the Biddeford exit.

He reportedly had injuries to his legs and head and was in the early stages of hypothermia.

Officials say earlier that day Felling removed a court-ordered monitor while he was in Ellsworth.

10 Maine counties under ‘Primary Natural Disaster’ category

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated ten Maine counties as primary natural disaster areas because of the drought.

The counties include Franklin, Kennebec, Somerset, Hancock, Knox, Waldo and Washington.

The designation allows the USDA Farm Service Agency to extend emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans.

The FSA said the loans can be used to meet recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock.

Besides the designation of the primary counties, several secondary counties are also eligible for emergency loans.

Those include Aroostook, Penobscot, and Piscataquis.
