Bucksport road and Bridge Hill roadwork

City of Ellsworth officials want to remind residents that public works crews will be on Bucksport Road at McMullen Lane and on Bridge Hill near Pleasant Street Monday, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.

Crews are replacing underground valves.

Officials say drivers can expect shifted lanes but most importantly drive with extra caution to give crews space to work safely.

Body of missing Sedwick woman found near her residence

The Hancock County Sheriff’s office has confirmed to Star 97.7 that the body of a missing Sedwick woman was found near her home on Saturday.

Officials say 77-year-old Glenith Gray was reported missing from her home at about 3 a.m.

The Maine Warden Service assisted the Hancock County Sheriff’s office and located Gray deceased.

Police say they believe her death was due to the weather and not suspicious circumstances.

Man charged with attempted murder in Dixmont shooting

A Dixmont man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident with friends and family on Friday according to WABI news.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said 25-year-old Caleb Springer was charged with attempted murder, aggravated reckless conduct, and aggravated assault.

Authorities responded to Masonic Road in Dixmont just after 9 p.m. Friday to find Springer out of control and recklessly shooting a firearm.

Following an investigation, deputies identified three victims, who they say were friends and family of Springer.

One of the victims was shot while seated in their car and others received injuries as a result of being hit by a bat.

Springer was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

11 people displaced after Dexter fire

11 people have been displaced following a fire in Dexter Saturday morning according to WABI news.

A call came in about a fire at an apartment building on Main Street just after 10:00 a.m.

Officials say the apartment where the fire started has been destroyed and the second floor sustained significant smoke damage.

The building is currently uninhabitable.

One person was injured after they went back into the building to retrieve their pet, their injuries were treated on scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced.

Wreath laying ceremony held at Woodbine Cemetery Dec. 13

The Cemetery Commission held a special ceremony on Saturday for National Wreath Laying Day at Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth.

City officials say the local VFW gathered to lay wreaths in honor of veterans.

Volunteers were welcomed as community members shared a moment of gratitude and holiday warmth.

Stonington Opera House to host holiday themed trivia

According to the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce, you can test your jolly knowledge at a holiday themed trivia at the Stonington Opera House this Thursday, Dec. 18.

Free luminary walk at Head of Tide Preserve in Belfast

The Coastal Mountains Land Trust will host a festive luminary walk Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the Head of Tide Preserve.

The Belfast-based homeschool group Otter Trails will guide the light for you through their enrichment program which helps them focus on nature education and will help participants enjoy the beautiful sites around us.

No registration is required for the walk which is a short loop and the best part, hot chocolate will be served.
