Gov. Mills releases statement on potential ICE operations in Maine
Gov. Janet Mills issued a statement regarding speculation about the federal government conducting law enforcement operations in Maine.
In the statement Mills says her administration has attempted to confirm with federal officials if operations are in the works however she has not heard back.
WABI news reports she advised the Maine State Police to work closely with law enforcement.
She also says in her statement if the plan is to come here and be provocative and undermine the civil rights of Mainers, those tactics are not welcomed.
She also advised those who wish to protest to do so peacefully.
This after city officials in Lewiston and Portland say they’re preparing for the deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents.
Eliot Cutler gets higher bail and strict conditions
On Wednesday a judge placed a higher bail and strict conditions on Eliot Cutler after he turned himself in on allegations of violating his probation.
The Bangor Daily News reports Cutler did so on his 2023 conviction for possessing child pornography.
The former gubernatorial candidate faces a $10,000 bail and is not allowed to have any access to the internet, electronic devices that can connect him to the internet and he can’t possess or access anything that depicts a sexual act or nudity.

The Frenchman Bay Conservancy based out of Hancock has been conserving Maine lands for 38 years.
They’ve worked to conserve more than 25,000 acres to ensure beautiful parts of our state stay that way.
Austin Schuver, the director of land protection at the Frenchman Bay Conservancy, has seen firsthand what protecting the lands, waters, and ecosystems of Maine can do.
Not just for people to enjoy the outdoors in undeveloped land but for the wildlife to be just that, wild and free.
Leaders in the organization have worked for over 10 years to acquire Headwater Bluffs, and now, the 5,793 acre property is permanently protected.
It’s the largest single conservation effort in the conservancy’s history.
Behavioral Health Services program director for Washington and Hancock counties hired
The Aroostook Mental Health services has hired a new program director of Behavioral Health Services.
Elisha Benson will be serving both Washington and Hancock counties using her expertise as a therapist, clinical consultant and leader within the Maine health care system.
According to the Ellsworth American, Benson will oversee development and how programs around mental health and substance use disorder are working in the region.
The organization offers outpatient services, peer support, crisis and coordinated care, sexual assault advocacy and more in Ellsworth, Machias and Calais.
Glacier ice bar returns to Rockport resort
