Business jet crashes at Bangor International Airport; Eight on board

At around 7:45 p.m.a business jet crashed while taking off from the Bangor International Airport.

The FAA says that the Bombardier Challenger 600 had eight people on board and the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.

WABI news reports the FAA and NTSB are investigating and airport officials say emergency crews will be responding throughout the night into Monday.

Town of Lamoine hires new code enforcement officer after former CEO cited harassment

The town of Lamoine hired a replacement for the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector position.

This after about a month ago, Rebecca Albright who served the role as interim, resigned from her position citing “relentless and perpetual investigation of her work performance.”

That’s according to the Ellsworth American.

The paper reported in December after a lawsuit involving Albright alleging she erred in issuing permits and performed an insufficient number of plumbing inspections harassment continued after the lawsuit was dismissed in 2024.

Robert Grant of Ellsworth who currently serves the city of Ellsworth as CEO and LPI will take over the position starting on Friday, February 6.

MaineHealth Pen Bay & Waldo hospitals to hold town hall

On Monday, Feb. 9 starting at 5 p.m. MaineHealth Pen Bay and Waldo hospitals will hold a community town hall.

The free event is open to the public and participants can expect hospital leaders to share information about new services, sustainability efforts and health initiatives.

The Pen Bay pilot reports community members will have the chance to ask questions and engage in conversation.

The event will be held at the Belfast Free Library located at 106 High Street in Belfast.

City of Ellsworth officials seek space to house three departments 

Proposals for a new place to house the city of Ellsworth’s school bus garage, water department and parks and recreation facilities are being reviewed.

The city has requested to lease a building that’s within three miles of the city hall according to the Bangor Daily News.

They’re searching for a space to be at least 20,000 square feet and accommodate school buses and 35 employees.

City officials tell the publication it aligns with the effort to upgrade aging buildings around Ellsworth.

The city council will award the contractor to the winning bidder during a Feb. 17 meeting and proposals are accepted until Jan. 28.

Pilot program in Thomaston aims to help residents access local resources

The town of Thomaston is collaborating with the Penobscot Bay YMCA to create a Community Navigation pilot program to help residents access local and state resources, benefits and support services.

The program funded by a grant will serve Thomaston residents for free to help with housing, food, utilities, transportation and more.

The Pen Bay pilot reports Heather Devita, Penobscot Bay YMCA’s new community navigator will be available at the Thomaston Public Library Mondays from 4-7 p.m.

She will also be available at the Thomaston Municipal Building on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 a.m.

Ellsworth Community Music Institute to hold Midday Concert

It’s not every day we get to pause all that we do and take in beautiful music.

However, the Ellsworth Community Music Institute wants to help you end your work week just like that on Friday, Jan. 30.

At 1 p.m. the Daponte String Quartet will perform at the Moore Community Center theater which is located at 125 State Street.

For its 16th year, the Frenchman’s Bay Library is excited to announce the annual Soup’r Chili luncheon.

On February 1 at noon, the Sorrento-Sullivan Recreation Center welcomes you for a wonderful time to meet friends and neighbors over a buffet of soups, chilis, casseroles, breads and desserts.

It’s all in support of the local library and admission is by donation.
