Bangor airport officials still await NTSB members to arrive to investigate fatal crash
The Bangor International Airport director provided an update Wednesday afternoon on the fatal plane crash that happened on Sunday claiming the lives of all six people onboard.
The identities remain unconfirmed according to WABI news.
The airport director said six NTSB members are on the ground working however weather conditions have delayed the process.
They plan to reopen the airport Thursday morning at 9 a.m. however it’s unclear if that’ll change after an internal briefing with airport officials.
Former Ellsworth City Clerk passes away
Surry resident and longtime former Ellsworth City Clerk Heidi Grindle died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 26.
Incredible, kind and a good sport is how Grindle was described by former colleagues according to the Ellsworth American.
Grindle is survived by her husband Stanley and their son Devin.
She was 50-years-old.

Friendship Cottage has raised enough funds to keep operations going
When Downeast Community Partners closed, Friendship Cottage in Blue Hill had to figure out how they could stay open to bring services to Hancock County residents.
The organization that provides day care services for aging adults have partnered with community members and donors have been working to raise $750,000.
The Bangor Daily News reports $282,000 has been raised to purchase the building which is enough for a down payment.
On top of these efforts, Community Action in Aroostook, Washington and Hancock Counties, the new agency operating in DCP’s place, is working to increase enrollment as well.
Rockland’s emergency warming center extended hours
The emergency warming center in Rockland at the Flanagan Community Center has been and will continue to be open through this Saturday.
The American Red Cross is operating the daytime warming center between the hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The Pen Bay pilot reports they will also offer transportation for those who don’t have another way to get to the space and back.
Dinner and breakfast will be provided.

On top of helping residents begin their morning with good company and helpful information, you can hear from their guest speaker who is a Care Coordination Specialist with the family caregiver program through Eastern Area Agency on Aging.
Officials say this session will be great for people who are currently providing care or preparing to support a family member.
The meeting will start at 8:30 a.m. and the guest speaker will make their presentation at 10 a.m.
Ellsworth Lioness Lions Club collecting dress donations
The annual father daughter dance at Ellsworth High School is coming up in April.
It’s a staple for the community.
Now, the Ellsworth Lioness Lions Club is working to make the preparation process for attendees a little less stressful.
The Ellsworth American reports the club is collecting gently used dresses, shoes and accessories for young attendees which is a part of their program called “The Princess Project.”
The goal is 100 so you can drop off dresses at Tutu Cute Dance Studio, Poppy and Polka Dot Boutique, the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce or K&B Automotive.
Once dresses are collected, girls will have the chance to shop for free and that’s expected to happen between February and March.
