Multiple departments respond to fire at vacant home in Bangor
On Sunday morning, multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a vacant home in Bangor.
Around 9 a.m. first responders saw heavy smoke and fire at the home on Ohio Street locating the fire around the back of the building.
WABI news reports no injuries were reported and responders got the fire under control by opening walls to search for the fire.
Officials say the extreme cold and wind made operations difficult
The fire is under investigation.

Rockland PD searching for driver in hit and run
Rockland Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver believed to be involved in a hit and run accident on Friday.
Posted on their Facebook page, police say the hit and run accident happened at around 3:10 p.m. at the Broadway and Park street intersection.
The accident involved a person operating an electric scooter and the person was injured and taken to a local hospital.

11th Annual Read to ME Challenge in Tremont
Happening Monday, the Maine Department of Education will launch their 11th annual Read to ME Challenge with a read-a-loud at Tremont Consolidated School.
This public awareness campaign aims to make reading and literacy development enjoyable.
The commissioner of the DOE will join students and staff at the school and will read to the second and third grade students.
The DOE encourages adults to read with or for children throughout the month.
EPA awards Rockland pollution control facility for excellence
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized the city of Rockland with the 2025 EPA Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation and Maintenance Excellence Award.
Rockland is one of seven wastewater facilities in New England to receive the award highlighting the commitment to improve water quality and protect human health and the environment.
The award has been distributed for the past 40 years.

Cosmic Love, Universe through all sense and more at Versant Power Astronomy Center
A new month means a new schedule for Versant Power Astronomy Center.
We spoke with the director about what’s going on for the month of February.
They will have the Universe through all the Senses for their Friday evening show at 7 p.m. all month.
Participants can discover how you’d see, touch, smell, hear and taste the cosmos.
A family favorite is returning in February at 2 p.m. on Sundays which is the Magic Treehouse: Space Mission.
You can take a journey with Jack and Annie to discover the numbers of stars and see how it feels being an astronaut.
Finally their 4 p.m. music show on Sundays this month is Cosmic Love!
You can enjoy a romantic show with songs from Prince, Madonna, Taylor Swift and more!
