Water rates in Ellsworth set to increase
A Water Department notice stated rates in Ellsworth are set to increase within the next two years.
The increase of $248,000 is to maintain the city’s water system and pay the debt service according to the Ellsworth American.
This means residential and commercial customers will see a five percent increase in phase one and a two percent increase in phase two according to the publication.
The overall goal of the increase is to be compliant of the Maine PUC rules which states the city must allocate 30% of total water utility revenue to public water protection.
Building the idea of Ellsworth’s Parks and Recreation Department
According to leaders at the parks and recreation department for the City of Ellsworth over 100 residents offered insight on how Ellsworth’s parks, playgrounds, trails and recreational spaces are used and what it means to the community.
After an assessment was done, it was clear residents want to keep those spaces in good shape for generations to enjoy.
That’s why the city is working to create a blueprint for a parks and recreation system to reflect the needs and interests.
