FMO investigates multiple fires across the state
Multiple fires are being investigated from the weekend by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
Firefighters battled extremely cold conditions Sunday after being called to a house fire in Pleasant Point.
WABI news reports the Perry volunteer Fire Department says everyone inside made it out safely and they were all evaluated by an ambulance crew on scene.
However one firefighter was evaluated for smoke inhalation.
The other fires included in their investigations include a fire in Denmark, Anson, Palmyra and Oxford.
Police set to install license plate reader cameras in Hancock County
Bucksport residents will notice license plate reader cameras being installed very soon.
Police are set to install the cameras at six locations in Hancock County.
The Bangor Daily News reports the project within the county uses different reader cameras that will record license plate numbers in which law enforcement says it’ll police to prevent the information from being used for other matters.
The publication reports the installation in Bucksport is the only location for the new readers that is made public.
BMV text scam returns across the state
On Monday Secretary of State Shena Bellows announced a warning to Mainers across the state over a text scam.
Reports have come in stating an important reminder from the Maine DMV threatening recipients with consequences ranging from car registration to license suspensions.
Officials say a link is within the text that leads to a fake website.
If you receive these texts please keep in mind legitimate government agencies will rarely contact you by text for sensitive matters.
The BMV will send correspondence by mail and if you’re not sure it’s true, don’t click the link, don’t provide private information and if it’s urgent that is a red flag.
First female commander of State Police makes history in new role
History has been made and a dream has come true within Maine State Police.
Bethany Couturier is now the first female commander of the state police’s training unit.
The Bangor Daily News reports she knew she wanted to be a Maine State Trooper since she was young, as she looked up to her uncle who was also a state trooper.
The paper reports she joins two other women as commanding officers within MSP, which is a first.

Space mission led by Maine native Jessica Meir announces launch date
The target date for the launch of the Crew-12 mission commanded by Caribou native astronaut Jessica Meir has been announced.
NASA says the crew is expected to launch at 6 a.m. on Wednesday with a crew of four people.
WABI news reports they will go up in a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station and they will launch from Florida.
This will be Meir’s second trip to space.
