Police looking to locate man wanted on multiple warrants

The Rumford Police department is asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted on multiple warrants.

Police say Kraig Ayotte has ties to Penobscot County and is wanted on outstanding charges.

WABI news reports those charges are failure to comply with sex offender registration and violating conditions of release.

If you have any information on Ayotte’s whereabouts you’re asked to contact the Penobscot County Sheriff’s office of Rumford Police.

Three people arrested in Washington County on drug trafficking charges

A weeklong investigation led the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency to arrest three people in Washington County on drug-related charges.

Police tell Star 97.7 36-year-old Katherine Smith, 37-year-old Bruce Bailey both of Baileyville and 40-year-old Dim Akopian of New Jersey were all arrested on Monday.

Police say they observed illegal drug trafficking among the three at a motel in Baileyville and later found 64 grams of meth and other evidence of drug trafficking.

Contract with sheriff’s office voted down in Stonington

Stonington residents voted to end their contract with Hancock County Sheriff’s department regarding a dedicated police presence.

After requesting over $80,000 to cover three eight-hour shifts each week, the residents voted not to fund it.

The Bangor Daily News reports the 27-25 vote came in during an annual town meeting and as a result of the vote, the sheriff’s department will respond to 911 calls but won’t have patrol shifts in the town.

Gas prices jump overnight in the U.S.

As conflict continues in the Middle East, AAA reports the average price for a gallon of gas jumped 11 cents overnight across the country.

AAA reports a gallon of regular gas is selling for $3.11 following the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Gas in Maine jumped eight cents bringing the average to nearly $3.00 a gallon.

Annual Polar Dip and Frost Festival for Camp CaPella attracts residents young and old

A cold dip for a heartwarming cause took place over the weekend.

Camp Capella held their annual Polar Dip and Frost Festival over the weekend and residents young and old came out to take a leap into the freezing water.

According to the Ellsworth American after 20 years of the tradition, residents still flock to Phillips Lake to raise money and help benefit the camp and campers.

Those among the crowd were local firefighters but they also hung out to make sure everyone had a fun and safe time.

Stonington Opera House to host third series of film club

The Stonington Opera House is bringing back their film club for theater enthusiasts to join, gather and watch classic films together.

The Ellsworth American reports six film series will be shown at the Opera House on Tuesday, March 10.

Members can hop on board by paying $30 which will include a guest pass to one film.
