Sugarloaf employee dies after incident involving co-worker
Officials say there is no danger to the public after reporting a Sugarloaf employee is dead after an incident involving a co-worker.
An investigation is underway in Carrabassett Valley after a shooting took place Sunday night.
WMTW reports a spokesperson from the ski resort says the second person involved has been asked to refrain from work or being present at Sugarloaf until the investigation is resolved.
Data privacy bill ensues debate among the Senate
After the Maine senate advanced a bill that could regulate the collection and use of personal data, Maine lawmakers are going head-to-head.
The bill proposed by Sen. Anne Carney of Cumberland county would regulate the information around someone’s race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, citizenship and more.
WMTW reports an amendment proposed by Carney on Thursday would exempt politicians.
Those who oppose the bill say it’s not right or unacceptable.
The bill and the amendment face additional votes in both chambers.
Old Hancock County Sheriff’s home project gets funding
The Ellsworth Historical Society received happy news as they continue to conquer revitalization projects in the community to preserve history.
For the second time, the REvitalizeME federal grant has been awarded to the society for the rehabilitation of the Old Hancock County Sheriff’s Home and Jail.
The Ellsworth American reports the society was awarded over $180,000 allowing the staff to address exterior carpentry, structural integrity and preservation.
Harbor Park food concessions request

City of Ellsworth officials announced they are seeking vendors to offer diverse food products and selections at Harbor Park.
Vendors can operate for about five months in between May and October of this year.

Ellsworth school teacher and staff luncheon
The Ellsworth Community makes sure to carve out time and thank their local educators and school staff.

59th Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race registration open
Registration is now open for the 59th Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race.
The race is coming up on Saturday, April 18 so if you’d like to race against the waters now is the time.
WABI news reports for the month of March signups are $50 and from April 1-10 is $65 leading to April 11 to race day it’ll be $75.
