Bangor PD investigating infant death

Little details have been released at this time but Bangor Police are investigating the death of a seven month old in Bangor.

Police say the death occurred last weekend and they were called to a house on Grove Street.

WABI news reports Bangor PD is working with the Medical Examiner’s Office as the investigation is ongoing.

Five arrests after officials investigate drug trafficking in Searsport

Early Tuesday morning, police arrested five people after investigating drug trafficking in Searsport.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says after searching two homes and investigating activity for several months, they discovered the sale of meth and cocaine.

Police say they seized over $4,000 in drug proceeds on top of 70 grams of meth, 24 grams of cocaine and two firearms.

All five people are being held at Waldo County jail in Belfast.

Sugarloaf employee charged for murder

Maine State Police are continuing the investigation into the death of a Sugarloaf employee Sunday.

Authorities responded to a home on Left Bank in Carrabassett Valley for a reported shooting.

WABI news reports 23-year-old Makayla Rose Desantis of Connecticut was transported to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital in Farmington and then to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she died.

24-year-old Austin Doucette of Carrabassett Valley was arrested and charged for murder.

Stonington awarded grant to update Comprehensive Plan

The town of Stonington has a plan to update its comprehensive plan with the Hancock County Planning commission to refresh data and goals around the changing coastal environment.

Thanks to a community action grant which is a part of the state’s community resilience partnership program, town leaders will be equipped to accomplish that update.

The Ellsworth American reports the current plan has pushed forward efforts around the working waterfront infrastructure, economic resiliency, response to fishing regulations and so much more.

Town officials tell the publication they invite community members to engage in updates around the plan.

MDI High hosting social responsibility day

On March 12, Mount Desert Island High school will host their annual Social Responsibility Day.

This consists of a full day of students learning about social issues, personal growth and community responsibility.

Leaders at MDI High say it’s modeled after a professional conference that targets topics like stress management, healthy relationships and nonviolent communication with a wide array of workshops.

18th Pies on Parade supports AIO

For the love of pie you’ve got to get to Rockland this weekend!

For the 18th year in a row, Pies on Parade welcomes people to sample delicious sweet and savory pies all weekend long while supporting AIO Food and Energy Assistance.

Community sponsors came together once again to make the event happen and all ticket sales will benefit AIO’s programs.

Starting Friday, you can pick up your tickets, get information on tours, the raffle and enjoy a special pie tasting by going to 1A Gordon Drive in Rockland.

Then if you plan to join the festivities on Saturday or Sunday, come hungry to enjoy so many pies it would take me quite a while to list them all.
