Learn how to preserve Ellsworth history through window restoration workshop

Applications are officially open for you to learn a rare craft and preserve Ellsworth history.

Organized by the Ellsworth Historical Society, you can enjoy a hands-on historic window restoration workshop called ‘Windows Into Our Past: Community Learning Through Historic PReservation”, to make your mark on the rehabilitation of the Old Hancock County sheriff’s home and jail as well as the 1886 Queen Anne-style building.

Leaders wanted to host this workshop on Sunday, May 17 to not only give community members a chance to make a mark on a historical project but because the business of repairing wooden windows is declining simply because people no longer have the skills.

However, they say historic windows like such are central to the building’s architectural character.

If you want to take part submit your application by heading to our website.

There’s only 15 spots for the workshop.
