Late Skowhegan town manager was under investigation for sexual exploitation
Maine State police say Nicholas Nadeau, the late town manager of Skowhegan, was under investigation for sexual exploitation of a minor.
The 32-year-old of Winslow died over the weekend.
Authorities say the investigation stemmed from a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children saying a 14-year-old girl in Florida reported inappropriate online communication with an adult male.
The investigation was in its preliminary stages when Nadeau died.
Route 17 closes after car crash
The Rockport Fire Department says part of Route 17 was closed Wednesday due to a crash.
The crash on Rockland Road caused the closure, leading motorists to use Route 90 and Meadow Street to get around.
WABI news reports officials did not provide details about injuries or the cause of the crash.
Officials say the affected part of the road later reopened.

Southwest Harbor residents approve funding to upgrade public works garage
During a special town referendum election on Tuesday, voters in Southwest Harbor said yes to a couple of town projects.
Southwest Harbor can now apply for and receive grants through the state, federally and more to upgrade its public works garage.
The Bar Harbor story reports the current garage is uninsurable as it holds the town’s buses and public works equipment.
The publication reports voters also approved shoreline repairs in multiple locations that were destroyed in 2024 after storms passed through.
Seasonal farmers market will make its way to Sullivan
Here’s something to put us in the Spring mood.
A new farmers market will set up shop for the season in Sullivan.
The Ellsworth American reports the market will be on Sunday afternoons at Swan Song Saltwater Farm at Watson’s Reach.
The market will set up from 1-4 p.m. starting on May 24 through the summer season.
Organizers tell the publication this will give local vendors another way to showcase their products to locals.
They plan to choose 10-12 participants annually through an application process.
Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce to host ‘Community Mixer’
Community, connection and conversation will be at the forefront of the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting on Thursday, April 9.
From 5 to 7 p.m. at The Farmhouse in Blue Hill, they welcome both members and the public to listen in on their annual meeting and bring together community members for a relaxed and informative evening.
In addition to the mixer, there will be a series of awards presented highlighting businesses and organizations in the area.
