First responders battle fire at Trenton motel

No injuries were reported after an early morning fire at a motel in Trenton on Saturday.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fire at Open Hearth Motel and all guests were safely evacuated.

The Ellsworth American reports crews responded to active flames and heavy smoke from the middle section of the building and conditions made it very difficult.

The publication reports assistance has been provided to displaced occupants.

Deer Isle man charged in stalking case

Maine State Police say a Deer Isle man was arrested on Thursday after responding to a domestic violence complaint in Sedgewick.

31-year-old Caleb Heanssler of Deer Isle was found in a wooded area at a home in Deer Isle after police responded to the complaint.

Police say he is charged with domestic violence stalking, four counts of violation of conditions of release, violation of protection order and for an outstanding arrest warrant for Domestic Violence Terrorizing.

Bath Iron Works reached agreement with union workers

After workers at Bath Iron Works went on strike for nearly a week, a spokesperson for the company says an agreement has been reached on a new contract with the Bath Marine Draftmen’s Association.

This after more than 600 workers walked off the job.

WABI news reports there’s not many details on the agreement however concerns over the impact of BIW operations across the state, country and overseas had officials analyzing the potential lasting impact on critical naval contracts.

BangorHousing project aims to provide housing for homeless residents

Talks are underway between Maine DHHS and MaineHousing as they aim to provide more units to assist Bangor’s homeless population.

All a part of the ‘Home for Good’ project, 60 new apartments could be built thanks to state funding.

WABI news reports the units could be built along Corporate Drive and officials say the goal is to begin construction by the end of the summer.

WABI news says DHHS anticipates the properties to be ready in late 2027 or early 2028.

The Spongebob Musical live theatre auditions

If you love the sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea, and theatre, leaders at The Grand want to see you this evening.

Happening between 6-8 p.m. there will be live auditions for The Spongebob Musical, on the Stanley Subaru Stage.

The performances will be on June 19-21 and June 26-28.

Ages 12 to 100 are welcome to audition for the community driven production.
