Gov. Mills signs extension of line-of-duty death benefits to MaineDOT workers

Governor Janet Mills signed legislation extending line-of-duty death benefits to MaineDOT employees.

The bill was prompted by the tragic deaths of Jimmy Brown and Dwayne Campbell, who were killed in January when a driver failed to stop in a work zone on I-95 in Waterville.

WABI news reports the legislation authorizes a benefit to the families of Brown and Campbell and any future MaineDOT employees who die while performing official duties.

Governor Mills has signed a proclamation marking next week, April 20 through the 24, as National Work Zone Awareness Week in Maine.
