Authorities respond to motorcycle crash in Thomaston
On Sunday evening, Thomaston Fire and Rescue responded to a car crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.
Thomaston Police and the Knox County Sheriff’s office says Route 1 closed to traffic as they responded to the scene.
The Pen Bay Pilots reports the motorcyclist was transported to MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital.
The crash closed off traffic between Dexter Street and Old County Road.
5 people inside home in Brewer when fire broke out
Early Sunday morning, the Brewer Fire department responded to a house fire at 508 South Main Street.
Officials say five people were present in the home when authorities arrived.
WABI news reports crews quickly put the fire out and the initial blaze was knocked down within 15 minutes.
No injuries were reported however the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Bar Harbor Cruise Ship ordinance adjusted
On Friday, a U.S. District Court Judge changed a part of the Bar Harbor cruise ship ordinance in place.
Since 2022, organizations and businesses have come together to sue the town citing the cruise ship limits were unconstitutional.
The Bangor Daily news reports that a judge ruled the Bar Harbor cruise ship ordinance is unconstitutional in all months besides July and August.
The publication reports a citizens initiative led to a limited passenger disembarkation to 1,000 or less without fines.
Ever since, the town has decreased cruise ship visits.
Maine EMS Professional Awards canceled
On Thursday, the Maine EMS Board was set to host the 2026 Maine EMS Awards Ceremony at the State House.
However, state officials now say it’s been canceled until further notice.
The event pauses for EMC clinicians, partners and various organizations across the state to recognize their achievements and contributions to Maine communities.
The Public Information Officer at the Maine Department of Public Safety says state officials have honored those who serve in the community for 36 years and it coincides with ‘National EMS Week.’
Officials say right now their hearts are with first responders and those who are impacted by this difficult time throughout the state.
Northeast Harbor Library will host ‘Memorial Day Book Sale’
A large book sale will take place on Memorial Day which is May 25 at the Northeast Harbor Library.
Leaders encourage community members to stop by and check out the wide selection of books and media right before the Northeast Harbor Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony that will take place through the afternoon.
Following those events, families can enjoy a community cookout!

Memorial Day Events in the region
There will be various events taking place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 to honor the men and women who gave their lives serving the U.S. military.
Public events will take place in Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, Bucksport, Gouldsboro and in Ellsworth.
The Ellsworth American reports the VFW Memorial Post 109 color guard will have a ceremony on the Union River Bridge Monday at 9 AM.
There will also be a Memorial Day ceremony on the City Hall lawn at 10 AM.
