NH man arrested for 1993 murder of Maine woman
Maine State Police say a New Hampshire man has been arrested for the killing of a Maine woman in 1993.
Police say 59-year-old Daniel Jolly is charged in the murder of 73-year-old Maxine Bitomski.
Police tell Star 97.7 in January 1993, Bitomski was found dead in her home by family members in Kittery.
Police say she knew Jolly through his job with a medical supply company.
Jolly will remain in a New Hampshire jail pending extradition proceedings.
Data centers, local dams at center of Ellsworth council meeting
On Monday, the Ellsworth City Council focused on a few things during a workshop.
Data centers and dam licensing were at the focus of the meeting.
The Ellsworth American reports after Gov. Janet Mills vetoed a bill in April that could have placed a moratorium on some data centers, Ellsworth officials are concerned about the potential impacts.
Concerns included resources, environmental effects and of course construction.
The publication reports the city manager says if a center came through the planning board, the city will have the chance to place a moratorium to determine regulations.
The council also talked about the Ellsworth Hydroelectric project focusing on two dams on the Union River.

Heart of Ellsworth promotes Chesnee Barney to assistant director
The Heart of Ellsworth announced the promotion of Chesnee Barney to assistant director!
She joined the Heart of Ellsworth in September 2025 as a marketing and events coordinator helping with the organizations’ publicity and awareness.
In this new role officials say Barney will take on broader organizational responsibilities while supporting the mission of the Heart of Ellsworth.

On June 11 from 5:30-8 PM, Schoodic Arts for All and Meetinghouse Theater Lab will hold auditions for a September production called ‘Over the River and Through the Woods.’
