ICE ordered to halt vehicle stops
After 26-year-old Joan Sebastian Guerrero, from Colombia, was killed by an ICE agent, sources say U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been told to suspend most vehicle stops.
Sen. Susan Collins released a statement Tuesday saying while the investigation is not complete, it raises sufficient critical questions.
WABI news reports Guerrero was originally from Colombia, had been authorized to work in the United States and had a social security number.
Lawmakers across the state have issued statements on the shooting in Biddeford calling for a thorough investigation.

Washington County Commission fires county manager
After a special meeting, Washington County Commissioners voted to terminate the county manager.
Renee Gray served in her current role for about three years.
News Center Maine reports Gray voiced multiple times financial shortfalls within the county budget.
Now, Gray filed a lawsuit against Washington County citing she was unlawfully fired in part to hide financial mismanagement.
News Center reports her termination has been temporarily blocked.
Preliminary report released from CSB on Woodland Pulp Mill deaths
The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board released an update into their investigation on the deaths at Woodland Pulp Mill in Baileyville earlier this year.
The CSB chair says the tragedy shouldn’t have happened.
WABI news reports 20-year-old Kasie Malcolm and 26-year-old Allen Hornberger died after toxic gas was released.
10 others were exposed to the deadly hydrogen sulfide gas and the report states there was no system to control or account for personnel during the shutdown, no ventilation system and no fixed hydrogen sulfide detectors.
Fire crews knock out brush fire on Green Lake Island
Ellsworth fire officials responded to a brush fire on Green Lake Island Monday.
The brush fire moved quickly however emergency crews were able to knock out the fire quickly.
Ellsworth officials say crews were aware that campsites were on the island in the Northeast Cove of Green Lake and had to access the remote island through a rescue boat from Lamoine Fire.
The fire grew to nearly half of the island due to strong winds.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
The cause remains under investigation.
Ellsworth collaboration brings a ‘Clean Up’ day to the city
The Heart of Ellsworth and the City of Ellsworth have collaborated for yet another community event.
Volunteers are encouraged to come out on Friday, July 24 at 10 a.m. to the Franklin Street Parklett for a morning of hands-on care for Ellsworth spaces.
The collaboration will assist in seasonal cleanup work to support the appearance and overall health of the historic district.

Blue Hill Fairgrounds Summer fundraiser

Versant Power Astronomy Center back open after renovations
Renovations are complete at the Versant Power Astronomy Center meaning families can get back to the regular schedules of enjoying public shows and Summer matinees.
Moon-based the next steps analyze the dream of having a moon base after historical events have taken place along with future exploration.
They will also have their Sunday program called ‘Earth, Moon and Sun’ looking into those three objects and why they’re important.
The music show is ‘Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon.’
