Belfast man arrested after early morning burglary in mobile home park
On Tuesday morning, Belfast Police officers responded to a mobile home park after reports of a burglary.
After residents tried to fight 25-year-old Thatcher Jackson and pin him down after he climbed into a window with a gun, Jackson fled into the woods.
This led police to issue a shelter-in-place as they searched Swan Lake Avenue, Patterson Hill Road and Kaler road.
WABI news reports Belfast police chief Robert Cormier says Jackson was arrested just before 1 p.m. behind the East Side school and it is believed that this incident had a domestic aspect to it.
Jackson is being held without bail.

Kamala Harris endorses Troy Jackson
On Monday, Former Vice President Kamala Harris endorsed Maine’s new Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate, Troy Jackson.
This after Jackson secured the nomination to challenge longtime Republican Sen. Susan Collins in November.
WABI news reports Harris said she relates to acting quickly in a fundraising email.
Democrats are counting on a win in Maine to have a chance to take back control of the Senate.

Community Action & WCCC partners to expand childcare access in Calais
After the closure of a major childcare center in the area, Community Action in Aroostook, Washington and Hancock Counties has partnered with Washington County Community College.
The two announced an expansion to open new childcare slots on the WCCC campus in hopes to stabilize childcare access in the region.
A large childcare center in the town of Charlotte closed its doors in the Spring.
Maine DOT releases documentary about the Stevens Bridge
The Maine Department of Transportation released a documentary highlighting the history of Blue Hill through the changes of Stevens Bridge.
The visual approach shares how a single bridge can carry countless stories and meanings as community members, local officials, historians and cultural partners reflect on the Stevens Bridge.
Another goal for the documentary is to create a lasting record of the Stevens Bridge not only recognizing its presence but the perspectives of Indigenous communities and the importance of relations to the land and waters in the region.

AIO prepares for leadership change
On Tuesday, the Board of Directors of AIO Food and Energy assistance announced the executive director, Alan Kearl will retire.
Kearl spent years in his role guiding AIO through periods of growth, expanded programs and helped strengthen partnerships.
The board wants to emphasize although this will be a transitional time for the organization that daily operations will continue without interruption.
The board has begun a search for AIO’s next executive director.
