Crews start cleanup efforts after train derailment in Orono
After a train derailment took place over the weekend in Orono, investigators are still working to determine the cause.
However, cleanup efforts have already begun.
WABI news reports that CSX crews on site had to vent carbon dioxide to relieve pressure built up from the fall.
To take extra precaution, an environmental crew was brought to analyze the possibility of ecological damage.
Track repairs will start after the final cars are cleared, which a spokesperson confirmed only six cars out of the 13 that derailed have been removed.

Cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to lettuce recall reaches Maine
The nationwide outbreak of cyclosporiasis linked to the iceberg lettuce recalled causing more than 6,000 cases has reached Maine.
The Maine CDC confirmed there are 10 cases connected to the infection.
WABI news reports cyclosporiasis is transmitted by ingesting food or water contaminated with the parasite which infects the small intestine.
Common symptoms include diarrhea, bowel movements, loss of appetite, weight loss, prolonged fatigue and or cramping.
The Maine CDC encourages people to reduce their risk by thoroughly washing fresh produce under clean running water before eating and by following safe food handling practices.
They say it is important to thoroughly wash produce even if it is labeled as prewashed.

Hannaford issues recall expansion over salmonella risk
Hannaford supermarkets issues an expansion to recalled product items due to potential Salmonella contamination.
The grocery chain says their jalapeno supplier, Coast Citrus Distributors recalled the paper after a possible contamination risk.
WABI news reports all of the products have been removed.
The diced jalapenos and pico de gallo salsa with a best by date running through Aug. 14, 2026 is a part of the expansion.
This as a beans, rice and cheese burrito, classic beef burrito, chicken verde burrito and chipotle chicken tortilla wrap out of the deli department were all recalled last week.

Hannaford set to take over Presque Isle store
Hannaford is expanding into another location in Aroostook County.
Leaders announced this fall, Hannaford Supermarkets says they’ve acquired Grave’s Shop ‘n Save at the North Plaza Shopping Center in Presque Isle.
WABI news reports the shop ‘n save opened in 1959 and has been in operation for more than seven decades.
The store will open under the name Hannaford in the fall.

The Grand set to host auditions for a Christmas special
Thankfully, the weather outside isn’t frightful just yet but The Grand Theatre is gearing up for the holidays.
If you’re interested in performing in a Christmas classic now is your chance!
On Sept. 18 and 20, auditions will be held on the Stanley Subaru Stage for a holiday production of ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas.’
Auditioners should prepare 16-32 bars of classical musical theater song, bring sheet music or a recorded track.
The performances are scheduled for Dec. 2-5 sponsored by Maine Savings Federal Credit Union.
