Vice President JD Vance set to return to Maine on Monday
Vice President JD Vance will visit Brewer this coming Monday. The Vice President will deliver remarks at the Compotech headquarters according to WABI.
The company manufactures ballistic panels and shelters developed at the University of Maine.
It could win up to $1 million in a competition created by the U.S. Small Business Association.
This is the vice president’s second visit to Maine in just over three months.

Lebanon man arrested after shooting a car
On Saturday, a Lebanon man was arrested after firing multiple rounds into a car.
19-year-old Zachary Shaw is charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief.
WABI news reports the York County Sheriff’s office responded to Route 202 at 2:00 a.m. after a driver reported a black sedan pulled on the side of his car and started shooting.
The victim was not injured however the car was disabled.
WABI news reports Shaw’s bail is set at $25,000 and the investigation remains active.

Ellsworth City council will hold special meeting on RV park moratorium
A debate over a potential moratorium on RV parks will be the focus at a special meeting for the Ellsworth City Council.
This after an application for a new RV park on Bayside Road has brought up talks around a moratorium ordinance.
The Ellsworth American reports ahead of the special meeting on Aug. 31, city staff will draft a moratorium ordinance for the council to consider.
The publication reports residents have voiced concerns over the character a new RV park could bring, traffic, road hazards and water and environmental impacts.
Hours long standoff in Whitefield ends in arrest
Deputies say a man was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff on Thursday.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office arrested 51-year-old Robert Willett.
WABI news reports after responding to a home on Head Tide Hill road, deputies attempted to arrest Willett due to an arrest warrant for terrorizing from a previous incident.
Authorities say when they arrived Willett got away on an ATV and later made threats to officers leading to a ten hour standoff.
He is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and creating a police standoff.
