Wildland fire in Penobscot 80% contained
The Penobscot Volunteer Fire Department says a wildland fire spanning five acres is 80 percent contained after crews battled it for over six hours on Saturday.
The fire was first spotted near the intersection of Dunbar Road and Castine Road in Penobscot.
WABI news reports the Maine Forest Service and 12 other departments assisted in containing the fire.
The Penobscot fire chief said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Three people injured after wrong-way crash
Maine State Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured three people on 1-295 southbound on Saturday.
Police say 88-year-old Ronald Ferguson of Nelson, New Hampshire was driving his car when he mistakenly entered the southbound lanes of 1-295 going the wrong way.
After entering the wrong direction Ferguson struck another car and all three involved were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The crash caused an exit off-ramp to be closed but it has since reopened.
Hot air balloon strikes power line during tour
Nobody was injured after a hot air balloon struck a power line on Saturday.
It happened on Higgins Road in Presque Isle.
WAGM reports the Presque Isle Police department is investigating what happened when the balloon struck and damaged power lines about three miles from the Maine Balloon Fest launch site.
Officials say the FAA has been notified of the incident and other balloons from the festival appeared to land safely.
Northeast Harbor Library hosts author talk on mystery / thriller series
The Northeast Harbor Library will host an author talk with music industry professional Steven DePaul to discuss his mystery and thriller series.
Rock and Roll Confidential focuses on the glitz and glam of the music industry with the thrilling moments on the life of a rock star.
The talk will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the library with books available for sale!

Ellsworth Craft & Vendor fair fundraiser set for Sept. 26
A fundraiser benefiting children in the region is coming up.
On Sept. 26, head to the City of Ellsworth craft and vendor fair at the Ellsworth elementary and middle school starting at 8 a.m.
Proceeds from the vendor tables will go directly to the general assistance fund benefiting the Backpacks for Kids program and the Christmas for kids program.
These efforts support children in the area who are in need of school supplies for the upcoming academic year and for kids to have a fulfilling holiday season later in the year.
